What Unveil is

Unveil is a shared disposable camera for events. A host creates an event and picks two things: how many shots each guest gets, and when the photos unlock. Guests scan one QR code to join — an App Clip on iPhone, the browser everywhere else — so nobody has to install anything to take part.

Every photo disappears the moment it is taken. The roll stays sealed until the reveal time the host set, and then the whole album develops at once, for everyone together.

Why it works that way

A phone camera has no scarcity and no patience. You take forty near-identical shots, check each one, and the evening happens on a screen rather than in the room. Giving everyone a few frames and hiding the results puts both back: you have to aim, and you have to wait.

The reveal is the other half. An album that arrives all at once, the morning after a wedding or on the drive home from a trip, is an event of its own — which a camera roll filling up in real time can never be.

What it costs

There is no subscription. Creating an event is free for up to five guests, and beyond that the host makes one purchase for the event, priced by how many guests it needs to cover. Guests never pay.

How the comparisons are researched

This site compares Unveil with other event camera apps, which means making claims about products we do not control. The rules we hold ourselves to:

• Every claim about another app is checked against that app's own pages — its site, its pricing page, its App Store listing — at the time of writing, and each source is listed at the foot of the article with the date it was accessed.
• Comparison tables carry the month and the storefront the prices were read from. Prices decay, and a table without a date is a table you cannot check.
• We do not publish ratings, scores, or user counts we cannot source. Where a rival does something better than Unveil, the article says so.
• Norwegian, Swedish and Danish articles are researched against local sources and storefronts rather than translated from the English, because the prices and the retailers genuinely differ.

Who makes it

Unveil is built and run from Oslo, Norway. It is an iOS app; there is no Android version yet.
